Big score improvement from last year. From 11,7 to 20,1 million. Better propagation and great team job! It’s our best score on CQWW SSB so far. (2010 CQWW SSB Photos)

Overview:
This contest was very unique. Murphy did not show his face any
time during the contest. Everything worked pretty well with no
exception due to a previous check up done by PY8AZT, Luc and
others weeks before the contest. After some months of inactivity,
the 80m 4 square was ready again and it was on the air! - TNX to
the efforts of PY1NX, Soni and PY8AZT, Luc, it paid off!

For the first time we used software developed by Carel, PC5M called
"Athena". This software is very cool and helped us to follow our
planning almost on real time. Athena reads the MDB file from
N1MMLogger on network and periodicaly displays graphical performance
of worked QSO´s and Mult´s per hour versus the planned values.

- 10 meters -
With the previous opennings on 10 meters during the last couple weeks,
we thought we could break the 10m QSO record from the station.
Unfortunately, 10m did not work as we expected, the opening were very
short and an almost dedicated station had to be setup to look for any
kind of opening on that band. Besides the bad propagation on 10m, we
are pretty sure, all opening was very well used and we managed to
work DX Mults.

- 15 meters -
No concerns at all about 21 Mhz! This is by far our best band. Signals
were always strong and rates over 200 QSOs/hour were easy achievable.

- 20 meters -
20m was hard to work. The band was very crowded and sometimes even with
big signals coming in from EU we felt we could not be heard on EU! The
band did not work as we expected, maybe due to any propagation reason.
We missed USA stations on the log.

- 40 meters -
40m worked very well, the 2 over 2 elements array did their job with
almost 1400 in log. Most of the time just 1 or 2 calls were done to
work any needed multiplier. It allowed us to keep running while S&P.

- 80 meters -
The Noise level was very unusual. The 4 square did not work as we
expected - maybe it need some tips from any "antenna guru". The 3 el
wire yagi fixed towards NA many times was inline to work Europe as well.

- 160 meters -
160 meters is a decisive band on CQWW since our proximity to the
Caribean islands might give us some precious multipliers. Unfortunately,
propagation did not help us on this band. We still need to work on
effective RX antennas. As usual, KV4FZ was the unique station heard
almost all the time on the top band.

Thank you all for nice contest.
Hope work you all again on CQWW CW coming up.

Best 73,
PW7T Team
